Ayoka Blandford first learned to wield a pen and express her feelings in high school. Those expressions were short stories which later transitioned into poetry. In college, she wrote her first poetry collection which would later become Mule of the World. 

Ayoka's debut novel, Love At Second Sight, published on Black Love Day 2024. Works in progress include a series of poetry books with themes that examine love, family, Womanhood and loss; and a second novel entitled, Bluff. 

Ayoka has a BA in Communications from Temple University and an MA in Public Communication from American University. Prior professional experience was in public relations and branding for nonprofit and corporate entities. A DC native, she lives in Costa Rica with her family.
